Frequently Asked Questions

Is a lab-grown diamond a real diamond?

Yes. Lab-grown diamonds have the same chemical composition, crystal structure, hardness (10 on the Mohs scale) and brilliance as mined diamonds. The only difference is their origin: they’re grown in a lab in weeks rather than formed underground over billions of years.

What certificate does my diamond come with?

Every loose diamond comes with a grading report from an independent institute. The report confirms the 4Cs (carat, color, clarity, cut), the measurements, and that the stone is lab-grown. You can open the certificate directly via “View certificate” on this page, and the report number is laser-inscribed on the diamond’s girdle for identification.

Why is this diamond cheaper than a mined diamond of the same quality?

Lab-grown diamonds don’t require mining, so production and supply-chain costs are lower. You get the same grade for a fraction of the price, which means you can choose a larger or higher-quality stone within your budget.

Will my diamond lose value over time?

Lab-grown diamonds are priced as jewelry, not as an investment. Prices for lab-grown diamonds have come down as production technology has improved, and, as with most jewelry, you shouldn’t expect to resell your diamond for the price you paid. What stays the same is the diamond itself: it’s real, it doesn’t fade, cloud or lose its sparkle, and with the certificate you can always prove its quality. We recommend choosing a lab diamond because you love it and will wear it, not as a financial asset.

What do Color F, Clarity VVS1 and Cut Ideal mean?

Color F is colorless, one of the highest grades on the scale. VVS1 means any tiny inclusions are very hard to see, even under 10x magnification, so the diamond looks clean to the naked eye. Ideal is the top cut grade: the diamond is proportioned to return as much light as possible. Together with Excellent polish and symmetry, this is what gives the stone its brilliant sparkle.
